I’m Rachel, the founder of Rachel Maxted Interiors. I’m an interior designer based in Cirencester, working with families across the Cotswolds and online throughout the UK. I help busy homeowners create spaces that feel calm, cohesive and practical for everyday family life, without losing warmth or personality.

My design style blends traditional influences with modern elements, creating transitional interiors that are relaxed, sophisticated, and inspired by nature. I believe homes should feel beautiful but also work for everyday life, which is why I focus on functionality, budget-conscious design, and even sustainability through upcycling and repurposing where possible.

My approach

I believe great interior design should support real life, especially in family homes. The spaces I design are never just about looking good in photos (although they absolutely will!). They’re designed to work day to day, whether that’s school bags by the door, busy mornings, family movie nights, or weekends spent hosting friends.

As a wife and boy mama, I understand the demands of family living and the importance of spaces that feel calm, organised, and welcoming. Whether you want to refresh one room or reimagine your whole home, I’ll guide you through the process with a friendly, approachable style, making it easy and enjoyable to achieve a home you truly love.

My job is to help you make confident decisions on everything from layout and flow to colour palettes, furniture, lighting and finishing touches, without the overwhelm.

Alongside interior design, I also create original artwork and commissions, inspired by home, nature and life in the Cotswolds. I love the way art brings warmth and personality into a space, it’s often the finishing touch that makes a room feel truly complete.

When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, baking something sweet, making music, or enjoying the countryside around Cirencester.
